Seminole County Gutter Guide: Deciding and Booking
Use this guide to decide whether you need a visit, when to book, and what to confirm with any gutter company, including us.

Decide: does your roof need it?
Many Florida homes have no gutters, and some do not need them. If you do have them, look from the ground after a heavy rain. Water pouring over the front edge, streaks on the fascia, or a green fringe along the trough all suggest a clog.
Trees help you decide. Live oaks drop old leaves in spring, which University of Florida extension staff describe as normal in their live oak answer. If a canopy overhangs the roof, expect more debris. If it does not, you may go longer between visits.
Extension staff do not address gutters directly, so treat the connection as practical experience. When in doubt, a photo sent with your quote request gives us enough to give a view.
Time it: when to book
Dry-season weeks, roughly November through April, are easier for work on the roof edge. Late winter and spring, after the leaf and catkin drop, suit a thorough clear-out. Third-party vendors serving the Orlando area suggest a pass before the wet season and another in autumn, according to one regional vendor guide.
Book ahead where you can. Around the start of hurricane season and after a named storm, schedules can fill, so asking early is sensible. Confirm hurricane season dates with the National Hurricane Center.
Wet roofs are slippery, and a careful gutter company may reschedule after rain. That is a sign of good judgment, not a delay.
Check the company: licence and insurance
Florida's contractor statute lists the trades that need a state licence. The word gutter does not appear in the definitions in section 489.105 as we read it, so cleaning appears to be unlicensed maintenance. Roof repair is covered, though.
That leaves you to judge a company on other things. Ask about insurance and request proof. Ask how long they have worked in your area. Ask for a firm price and a written scope.
You can look up licences for any trade on the state licensing website. We make no licence or insurance claims on this site, so put the same questions to us.
This is general information, not legal advice.
After a storm: what to confirm
After a named storm, branches and leaves fill troughs and downspouts. Milton's outages reached tens of thousands of Seminole customers in October 2024, and clean-up demand typically follows such events.
Before booking, check the roof and gutters from the ground for damage. If something is hanging, a repair visit is a different request from a clean-out. Say so in the form. We clean gutters and downspouts; we do not do repairs or roofing.

- Whether there is power and safe access
- Whether branches are still on the roof
Tree removal and roofing are separate trades with their own rules.
Home types and associations
Single-family homes, townhomes and condos all appear in the county, and each is booked a little differently. A detached house is simple. Attached units may share a roofline, which means a neighbour or the association has a say.
About 37 percent of occupied units in the county are rented, per state census data, so a landlord may be the person who approves the work. Check before you book.
For associations, section 720.3075 limits what an HOA can ask of a worker you hire on licensure. Architectural approval for new gutters or colours is a document matter, so read your community rules, or see our condo and HOA page.
